speak truth, O Lord

a crushed and broken people lay bruised and bleeding, tears and pain overflow from wounds like hot springs. darkness has consumed every corner. they know of nothing but doubt, denial, and deceit.
but there, against the blackest firmament, a single star sparkles hope. a beacon in the night. as clouds disperse, their eyes are opened to an entire sky speckled with glimmering diamonds. they spell out the Creator's name.
come just as you are. come, you who are weary and heavy-laden, and i will give you rest. the monstrous yoke will be lifted from your necks and is replaced with a yoke that is easy and light.
a face pressed to the ground slowly begins to lift upward. a promise awaits a response. follow me. believe. a light cannot be hidden by darkness - the absence of light - and is almost blinding to the bleeding. sin is powerless where there is a savior. death no longer carries its weighty sting. a rebellious nation is plundered by an evil force. messengers bring news of hope and a red sky marks the promise of better days to come. one by one they are being led to the slaughter. inevitable doom where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. something small inside whispers at them to turn around, stop. somewhere in the ills in a royal city, a not-so-ordinary man, God in flesh, cries out to the sky as the first nail is driven mercilessly into his hand thunder erupts as the God of all turns his face from such a drastic scene: the lamb of God carries the sins of the world. hearts break and love flows from His wounds. look upon the face of the Lord. He is bruised and broken, sweetly for our iniquities though he himself was without sin. the guilt escapes with his last breath - as far as the east is from the west. trust in the Lord; he lives. Christ offers connections to the Creator if we get off the throne. every day He dwells in his children as the Holy Spirit. Holding hearts in his arms and whispering gentle truth in their ears. what Love.

Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.
